It’s now 1966 and we are regularly playing Basildon Locarno, looking to be full time there in January 1967. Fed up with the boring lighting, Tony built us some stage lights consisting of spotlights in old biscuit tins with coloured gels, also strobes made from coloured gel windmills driven by record player motors. Remember, this type of thing wasn’t readily available in those days and we were one of the first to have anything like it apart from the bigger gigs and festivals. There was a storm in the papers as another band had accused us of copying them...all good publicity.
