Tony and I would hang out together quite a lot in the early days, cruising around in my Dad’s yellow Rolls Royce which was my main form of transport at that time, having just passed my test at 17.  He and I would try and get to see a few bands now and then, so he decided to print some “Big L” Radio London “Recording Agent” passes. He would have his tape recorder over his shoulder and we would get backstage into venues and festivals free pretending to be radio presenters and interview the stars. Ironically, amongst them were Scott Walker and The Troggs.

I remember Scott Walker playing the piano backstage while Tony was trying to interview him. All he kept saying was “I’m not allowed to be interviewed”, this was because of his recent announcement that he was leaving the Walker Brothers.

I gave Reg Presley one of our old “Troggs” cards saying he’d pinched our name. The polite reply was “F***ing hard luck!”
